Is franceinfo Left or Right?

Media Bias/Fact Check rates franceinfo Left-Center, with a score of -3.5, saying its editorial perspective is moderately progressive and that it gives weight to the environment and is critical of right-wing populists, while its reporting is well sourced. Ad Fontes Media has not rated it and we found no AllSides rating, so its position on our chart rests on that single rater.

As with every public broadcaster, the main question is independence from government. The heads of France Télévisions and Radio France are appointed by Arcom, the independent media regulator, and franceinfo's charter declares it independent of all powers. Political balance is also checked: in June 2026, Arcom gave Radio France formal notice over political plurality, after finding that most of the speaking time given to the Rassemblement National on France Info and France Inter between January and March 2026 aired between midnight and 6 a.m., which left the party under-represented during the day.

How Reliable Is franceinfo?

Media Bias/Fact Check rates franceinfo's factual reporting High and its credibility High, with no failed fact checks recorded, and notes its own fact-checking unit. Its charter sets out a correction policy: a RECTIFICATIF label at the top of a corrected story, in the headline too when the error changed its meaning, and a separate explanatory article for major errors. In October 2026, its TV channel aired footage of a protest in Tirana, Albania, as live pictures from Lyon; the presenter corrected the error on air a few minutes later and apologized.

How franceinfo Handles Corrections

franceinfo's charter says corrected stories carry a RECTIFICATIF label with what was wrong and what is right, and that major errors get a separate article explaining them; wrong push alerts are corrected by a new alert. France Télévisions and Radio France each have a mediator who handles complaints from the public.

Why franceinfo Is in Aplomb

franceinfo is France's main public news service, on radio, TV and the web. It meets our six source criteria; in the app, its videos appear in the France section, in French, rather than in Latest. What to watch for: only Media Bias/Fact Check has rated it, it places it slightly left, and it is funded by the state, so it pairs well with AFP, a news agency.
