Is RTÉ Left or Right?

Media Bias/Fact Check rates RTÉ News Least Biased but publishes no numeric score for it, so we place it at the middle of that range. AllSides and Ad Fontes Media have not rated it, and its position on our chart rests on that single rater.

RTÉ's biggest recent crisis concerned its finances rather than its reporting: in June 2023 it disclosed that it had paid presenter Ryan Tubridy €345,000 more between 2017 and 2022 than it had previously declared. Parliamentary hearings and external reviews followed, licence fee payments fell, and the government delayed decisions on its long-term funding.
