Is CTV News Left or Right?
Media Bias/Fact Check rates CTV News Least Biased, with a score of 0.9, inside its center range of -1.9 to +1.9. AllSides and Ad Fontes Media have not rated it, so its position on our chart rests on that single rater.
The best-known test of CTV News's independence came from its owner. In March 2015, Bell Media's president, Kevin Crull, tried to keep the chair of the broadcast regulator, the CRTC, out of CTV's coverage of a CRTC decision. After it was reported, he apologized to CTV News staff, saying editorial control rests with the news team, and he left Bell Media in April 2015. CTV News now works under a Journalistic Independence Policy meant to keep its newsroom separate from BCE.

Why CTV News Is in Aplomb
CTV News brings Canadian and international news from the newsroom of CTV, one of Canada's two national private TV networks. It meets our six source criteria; in the app, its videos appear in the Canada tab rather than in Latest. What to watch for: only Media Bias/Fact Check has rated it, many of its short videos cover local Canadian stories, and its owner intervened in its coverage once, in 2015, before apologizing.
